Tight Squeeze

Someone asked me the other day, "How can anything good come out of these frightening times?" 

I believe that these are the times when the most good is possible ... when the good people come out of the woodwork ... when our call to service, to healing, to love, is impossible to ignore. 

Thomas Merton said: 

"The tighter you squeeze, the less you have." 

His words remind me that when I grab fear and pull it close to me, when I become rigid with stress and self-righteousness, I am missing the opportunity to receive and create more.
