No Soap: 8/23/14

Listen, my children, and you shall hear ... of my soap making experiment gone horribly (stenchtastically) wrong! I guess that's why they call it an experiment. We try something without knowing the outcome. 

My conversation this week with Kari Chapin made me think a lot about how our creative impulse is a response to that nudging from the Divine to make something ... to make a difference, make something of beauty, to make change in the world. 

My prayer for you this week, is that if you try something new and come up with no soap as I did, that you remember that the creative impulse is never extinguished. We always have a chance to make something new, dream something better, to be and feel and experience more. And to do it in love.

Let It Go: 8/2/14

I had an MRI last week ... of my head! I am hugely claustrophobic, and it took a lot to get me on that table. The scan came back completely normal (which proves that wackiness doesn't show up in MRIs), and the experience got me thinking about how counterproductive my fear and desire to control the outcomes can be.

In this Out of the Fog Minute, I talk a bit more about how learning to let it go can trigger healing and openness ... even when you're afraid.

In Abundance: 7/19/14

I had a wonderful time on vacation with my family! We connected with old friends and made new ones. We drove cross-country from Michigan to California, and saw some amazing sites along the way. But I'm having trouble with the re-entry to "normal" life. I'm finding myself feeling rushed to get all the dirty laundry done ... pushed to get everything cleaned up and put away. 

When I'm feeling pushed like that, I am not connecting with my natural abundance. Time, healing, clarity, joy ... are all available to us in an unlimited way when we stop rushing around and begin to breathe. You'll hear more of my thoughts on this in the audio I recorded for you.

Purple Shirt Principle: 6/23/14

We're getting ready for our annual family cross-country trek to California, and I've apparently become a bit too tyrannical about the pre-trip wardrobe rules. My youngest son (once again) shows me the error of my ways. 

So often we put off doing something that will bring us joy ... even something as simple as wearing a favorite shirt ... because we think we'll be happier or more joyful at another time. By delaying gratification this way, we miss a chance to do something loving for ourselves, and it can constrict channels for abundance and ease in our lives.

Love and Change: 6/08/14

Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,

These words from Shakespeare's sonnet 116 have been very much in my mind this week. We are always changing, always in motion, even when we feel completely stuck. And as we grow older, have new experiences, see the people in our lives change, we forget that the Divine Love that is our birthright is absolutely constant ... no matter what movement we're experiencing.

There's so much going on, always, on so many levels, that we can forget our power to control what we're aware of and what we experience.

Map of Enough: 5/14/14

In this Out of the Fog Minute, I share how reading The Map of Enough inspired me to think about how I can be truly where I am … truly present … in the moment. Even when (especially when!) things are a bit difficult. It’s natural to want to run away, to move on to the “next” thing. Yet sometimes the best possible way to show up is to be in uncertainty, to live the very questions we’re wrestling with.

I Want It Now! 4/29/14

In this Out of the Fog Minute, I disclose my shameful Candy Crush Saga addiction, and share how we can sometimes miss the "real" now ... the present moment ... when our focus is on instant gratification. This relates to the way we attract abundance into our lives, too. There are some things we have to wait for, and we're meant to be fully present with the waiting.

Heart Monitor: 4/12/14

I'm wearing a heart monitor for the next 21 days, and every beat of my heart is being watched over by someone who will pass the information on to my doctor if anything funky happens. This experience got me thinking about how every beat of our hearts, every breath we take, is seen ... known ... loved by the Divine. We are watched over, cared for, supported, whether or not we remember or believe that this is so.

Downtime Choices: 3/29/14

I've noticed that in the choices we make to fill our down time ... whether that's waiting for an appointment, being stuck in traffic ... do a lot to shape our path ahead, and how we feel about that path. I'll be doing a little experiment with myself this week to become more aware of what I'm consuming energetically during my down time, and how those choices affect me.
