Following Through: 1/4/18

I consider myself the Queen of making New Year's resolutions that last a day. Or less.

When we follow through ... instead of just taking one action (often with great projection and pressure about the outcome) and then letting the whole thing drop ... we benefit from the natural flow of help and energy from Spirit that is generated by our action.

Divine Transparency: 11/30/17

Thomas Merton wrote: 

"Life is this simple: We are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and the Divine is shining through it all the time. This is not just a nice story or a fable. It is true."

This is a powerful teaching ... and a challenging one. Transparent? For most of the us, the world seems opaque. We get so engaged in our cares and worries that we forget the Divine is always there, reaching out to us. A presence behind and between and within everything. Becoming aware of that Divine presence doesn't remove the cares or worries, and it doesn't right the wrongs in the world. But it is the essential starting point to imagine change, transformation, and peace.

Is It In the Cards? 11/13/17

I had two unexpected events absolutely flatten me this week. You’ll hear more about it in the audio.

Is everything predictable? What role does free will play? I believe the majority of our life choices are free will. Every choice we make has consequences, and those consequences create other choices. Each of us has specific predestined elements on our path, but very often we are unaware of them.

When we look at the path ahead, it’s important to remember that divinatory tools don't just shine light on what's coming up on our path. They also give information about what’s happening within us. When we take predictions too literally, or get too tied up in “what’s in the cards” … it can make it more difficult to respond with grace to expected and unexpected events.

My prayer for you this week is that, whether you are laid low or lifted high by unexpected or expected events, that you move through it all with the sense of grace and protection which is your birthright as an incarnated being.

Slow Roadtrip: 10/26/17

As you listen to this, I'm on my way across the state for a weekend that promises to be challenging. 

I love to move fast, cut through clutter, and keep going. But as I help my father clean out a packed-to-the-rafters storage unit on Thursday, and then take my mother on a long roadtrip Friday through Sunday ... my ability to go slow will be put to the test.

No No No: 10/12/17

It's a running joke in my family that I always say "no" first. If you give me about 30 seconds, the "no" almost always turns into a "yes". It's a reflexive habit that, while it makes my family laugh, is a sign of something deeper I need to look at.
